Dr. Greg Kiker specializes in ecological and hydrological modeling, adaptive environmental management, and decision and risk analysis. He has used his long-term international experience in southern Africa to expand UF research and teaching capacity in Africa and Latin America to help gather over 2.4 million dollars in sponsored, international research. Through cooperation with his UF colleagues, he has extended multi-disciplinary, model development and decision analytical approaches into the Central American and Amazonia regions as a Co-PI on two recently awarded NSF grants. In addition, he has recently been awarded a second Fulbright Scholarship to fund research collaboration with South African National Parks and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Dr. Kiker has actively worked to include his international experiences into both undergraduate and graduate classes by using South African watershed modeling and adaptive ecosystem management as focus topics. His extension efforts include working actively with governmental water agencies and national parks to integrate research into practical solutions. Dr. Kiker believes that international relationships and experiences have transformed him into a better researcher and teacher, giving him the chance to share these opportunities with UF students and colleagues.
